Award Winning Business Change Leader
Charles Nathaniel Thompson is a change leader and project and programme manager by profession with over 20 years’ experience spanning the Financial Services, Oil & Gas and Energy sectors. After graduating in 1992 from the University of Nottingham with a PhD in Theoretical Mechanics, a discipline within engineering mathematics, he began his professional career at HSBC as an IT Analyst in the front office trading function. In 1998 he joined Lehman Brothers as a Senior Research Analyst and later joined Goldman Sachs as a Technical Lead supporting Equity Finance Trading. After five years at Goldman Sachs he joined BP as a Development Team Lead in their Finance & Energy Risk Management business. Charles has remained with BP for over 10 years in which time he has held a number of positions including Programme Manager, Business Analyst and currently IT Solutions Manager in their Upstream segment. In 2014 Charles received the coveted Race for Opportunity Champion Award for his work as a leader and role model in creating and establishing the first UK-based, minority ethnic network at BP. This accolade is unique in the sense that it is the only RfO award bestowed upon an individual as opposed to a group, team or organisation.
